Lightning death in Muvattupuzha; Six injured; Serious for two
Kochi: One person was killed by lightning in Muvattupuzha. Six people were injured. The condition of the two is critical. The deceased has been identified as Manoop 34, of Thachilukudi, Madathathikunnel MM Jijo (42) who was with him is undergoing treatment at Kolencherry Medical Mission Hospital.
The injured have been identified as MM Jojo (36), MM Jiji (39), Pappaneth Jitesh Kumar (29), Theruvankunnel Joby (40), and Vazhakkalayil Raju (52). The group, who were returning from work in the evening, were standing in a shed inside a rubber plantation when it rained and thundered. The locals rushed him to the hospital but could not save his life.
Meanwhile, Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Kozhikode, Malappuram, Wayanad, Kannur, and Kasaragod districts are likely to experience winds of up to 40 km and thundershowers during the next few hours. A yellow alert was declared in the Kollam district on Monday and in the Idukki district on Tuesday.
