Former Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly turns 50

Former Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly turns 50. Sports persons and others throw warm wishes to him. He was called as ‘God of off-side by Rahul Dravid, made many spectacular contributions in the field of cricket and continues to do so as Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) President.

Ganguly during his stint on the field has been known for his unique leadership style. Popularly known as ‘Dada’, he made his Test debut against England in the summer of 1996. He immediately made headlines as he went on to score a century in his maiden Test at Lord’s. Ganguly smashed a century in his second Test.

Thus, he became the only third batsman to score a century in each of his first two innings. Ganguly had also guided India to the finals of the 2003 World Cup.
