Nothing without nature: a 34-year-old doctor’s tweet minutes before the Himachal landslide stuns netizens

Multiple landslides caused by heavy rains near the Sangla-Chitkul route resulted in the collapse of a bridge. The footage of the tragedy has been making the rounds on social media platforms since Sunday, and as netizens were struggling to cope with the awful images, another shocking piece of information emerged. One of the victims from Jaipur had published a photograph of herself on Twitter just minutes before the incident.

Deepa Sharma, a 34-year-old ayurvedic doctor from Jaipur, had tweeted a photo of herself at the Nagasti post in Himachal Pradesh. The post was captioned, “Standing at India’s last point where civilians are permitted.” Beyond this point, some 80 kilometres ahead, we have a border with Tibet, which China has illegally annexed (sic).”

Later, Mahesh Kumar Sharma, the ayurvedic doctor’s brother, tweeted about her passing and her passion for nature.

“Deepa Sharma, my sister, is going on a spiti tour to celebrate her 38th birthday on July 29th. She was delighted about the upcoming trip. She bought a new professional camera and a new smartphone to go with it. She adored nature, and now my sister has died in its embrace. may her soul find peace, “He tweeted about it.

Meanwhile, Deepa’s Twitter feed is loaded with stunning photos from her excursion to the hills.

A shiver rushed down the netizens’ spines as soon as they read these tweets. On the microblogging platform, many people expressed their sorrow and condolences for her demise.

On Sunday, nine visitors were killed in a series of landslides in Himachal Pradesh. Deepa Sharma was one of them, and the other eight were Pratiksha Sunil Patil from Maharashtra, Amogh Bapat and Satish Katakbar from Chhattisgarh, Umarav Singh from Delhi, and Kumar Ulhar Ved Pathak, Anurag Bihani, Maya Devi, and Richa Bihani.
