Kerala Police Arrest 12 in Operation P-Hunt Against Child Pornography

The Kerala Police has arrested 12 individuals from various locations across the state in connection with the alleged viewing and sharing of objectionable content related to children. The arrests were made during simultaneous raids conducted as part of the police’s operation P-Hunt, a special drive aimed at countering child sexual exploitation.

The raids led to the seizure of 123 electronic devices, and a total of 46 cases have been registered against the arrested individuals. Among the arrested, four persons were apprehended from Malappuram district, two each from Idukki and Kochi city, and one each from Alappuzha and Ernakulam rural area.

Operation P-Hunt is part of the Kerala Police’s proactive efforts to combat crimes against children, specifically focusing on child pornography. It aims to enforce strict measures against the viewing, distributing, or storing of any child pornographic content, as such actions are considered criminal offenses under the law. Perpetrators may face up to five years of imprisonment and a fine of up to Rs 10 lakh. The arrests and raids demonstrate the state’s commitment to tackling child sexual exploitation and protecting vulnerable individuals.
