IMD Alert: Kerala Braces for Summer Rain Amid Rising Temperatures

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heatwave alert for Alappuzha, with temperatures expected to reach 38 degrees Celsius. Except for Idukki and Wayanad, a yellow alert has been issued for all districts in Kerala due to the rising temperatures. Palakkad could experience temperatures as high as 39 degrees Celsius, while Thrissur, Kozhikode, and Alappuzha are forecasted to reach 38 degrees Celsius. Kollam, Kottayam, Pathanamthitta, and Ernakulam may see temperatures up to 37 degrees Celsius, and Thiruvananthapuram, Malappuram, Kannur, and Kasaragod could experience 36 degrees Celsius. The temperatures across all districts are expected to be 2 to 4 degrees Celsius above normal. The Met Department has predicted summer rain starting Wednesday, with isolated heavy rainfall expected in Idukki and Malappuram.

With a yellow alert issued for Palakkad, restrictions will continue until Wednesday night. This includes the closure of professional colleges, tuition centers, and other educational institutions, as well as restrictions on sports events and outdoor activities between 11 am and 3 pm. The district administration has warned that restrictions may be extended if the situation persists, although parts of the district have received rainfall providing some relief.
