Kerala will establish paediatric facilities in 48 hospitals as part of the third wave of COVID

Thiruvananthapuram: Health Minister Veena George has announced that paediatric wards and intensive care units (ICUs) will be set up in 48 hospitals as part of the state’s response to the third wave of COVID-19. The minister directed the health department to complete 60% of the preparations within three months.

A total of 744 beds will be available, including 490 paediatric beds with oxygen supply, 158 HDU beds, and 96 ICU beds.

In preparation for the third wave of COVID, the state has made elaborate preparations. Hospitals are increasing the number of ICU and oxygen beds. The health minister also stated that the supply of oxygen is secure.

After visiting the state COVID control room here on Tuesday, the health minister addressed the COVID review meeting.

She stated that the COVID control room has been working hard to keep the virus from spreading.

She also thanked the control room personnel for coordinating COVID prevention beginning in 2020.
