Abigail Sara Reji Found Safe in Kollam After Kidnapping

In a welcome turn of events, six-year-old Abigail Sara Reji, who was kidnapped by a four-member gang in Kollam, has been found safe. The child was discovered abandoned in Asramam Maidan in Kollam, and sources indicate that she is now under the care of the City Police Commissioner’s office. The police acted swiftly to locate and rescue Abigail, and the accused reportedly fled after abandoning the child on the ground. Abigail will be presented in court before being reunited with her parents.

The incident unfolded around 4:30 pm when Abigail, the daughter of Oyoor resident Reji, was abducted on her way to tuition class, accompanied by her brother Jonathan. The gang had also attempted to kidnap Jonathan, but he managed to escape. A ransom demand of Rs 5 lakhs was made to Abigail’s mother via phone call around 7:45 pm, originating from a shop in Kulamada, Parippally. Further investigation revealed that the call was made by a man and a woman who borrowed a mobile phone from a shop employee. The motive behind the kidnapping and ransom demands is still under investigation.

The relieved family received another phone call hours later, demanding an increased ransom of Rs 10 lakhs for Abigail’s release. The woman on the call assured the family that the child was safe and would be returned to Oyoor by ten o’clock on Tuesday morning. The police are actively pursuing the case to apprehend the culprits and gather more details about the motive behind this harrowing incident.
