Kitty, the wife of ex-Union Minister Kumaramangalam and a lawyer, was slain in her Delhi residence.

Kitty Kumaramangalam, the wife of former Union minister P Rangarajan Kumaramangalam, was found slain at her house in southwest Delhi’s Vasant Vihar on Tuesday night, according to police. She was 67 years old at the time.

According to authorities, the reason for the death was attempted robbery, and a 24-year-old washerman from the region named Raju was caught in connection with the murder. According to early investigations, the washerman arrived at the house about 9 p.m. on Tuesday night, and when the domestic worker opened the door, he allegedly overpowered her, dragged her to a room, and restrained her, according to police.

Meanwhile, two more persons entered the house and smothered the victim with a pillow, according to authorities. According to the police, briefcases were discovered open at the scene of the crime, and the suspects fled with cash and jewellery. According to investigators, the domestic helper eventually managed to free herself and raise an alert. According to police, teams have been formed, and the search for the other two accused has begun.

Kitty Kumaramangalam was a Supreme Court lawyer, and her husband Rangarajan Kumaramangalam served as Union Minister of State Parliamentary Affairs and Law, Justice, and Company Affairs from 1991 to 1992, Parliamentary Affairs Minister from 1992 to 1993, and Power Minister from 1998 to 2000. In 1984, he was elected to the Lok Sabha for the first time. Before joining the BJP, he was a member of the Congress party. Rangarajan Kumaramangalam was the grandson of former Madras Chief Minister P Subbarayan and the nephew of former Indian Army Chief General PP Kumaramangalam.

According to NDTV, Kitty’s son, Congress leader Mohan Kumaramangalam, is on his way to Delhi from Bengaluru. Mohan Kumaramangalam is the Tamil Nadu Congress Committee’s acting president.
