WhatsApp Enhances Group Calling Experience: Now Allows Up to 31 Participants in a Call

WhatsApp, the popular messaging platform owned by Meta, has rolled out a new update for iOS users, enhancing the group calling experience. The update increases the number of participants allowed in a group call to 31, up from the previous limit of 15. This means users can now initiate a group call with up to 31 participants, making it easier to connect with larger groups.

According to details shared by the feature tracker WABetaInfo, the latest stable version of WhatsApp for iOS, version 23.22.72, includes this significant change. The update doesn’t mention the new limit in the official changelog but introduces the ability to start a group conversation with up to 31 participants.

The new feature allows users to invite more participants to join a group call, making it a convenient option for larger gatherings. Previously, WhatsApp only permitted users to initiate a group call with up to 15 participants, with additional members having to join the call manually.

It’s important to note that the availability of this feature might vary based on the region and the specific version of the app. Users are encouraged to update their WhatsApp app to the latest version to check for the new functionality. If the feature is not immediately enabled after updating, users might need to wait for a few days or weeks for the functionality to be rolled out to their accounts or apps.

WhatsApp has been introducing various updates and features recently, including support for multiple accounts on the same smartphone and the implementation of passkeys for enhanced security on Android. Passkeys serve as a secure form of authentication, eliminating the need for passwords and ensuring the safety of user information. This feature has started rolling out on Android and integrates with Google’s password manager, although its availability on iOS remains uncertain for future updates.
