Renovation of Kodiyeri Karaltheruv Ganapati Temple Secures 64 Lakh Rupees Allocation, Speaker Announces Commencement

Thalassery: The government has approved a budget of 64 lakh rupees for the refurbishment of the Kodiyeri Karaltheruv Ganapati Temple. This renovation project, located in the constituency of Speaker AN Shamsir in Thalassery, is set to commence next month as confirmed by the Speaker in a video shared online. Despite controversies surrounding its historical significance, administrative clearance has been granted for the revitalization of this Ganesha temple situated in the Speaker’s jurisdiction.

Meanwhile, the UDF has taken a specific stance on the historical debate. They have chosen not to escalate the matter within the Legislative Assembly, deciding that while it may be discussed within the Assembly, it should not be amplified further.

Shamseer’s Facebook announcement reads as follows: “Kodiyeri, an ancient temple in Thalassery, is home to the revered Ganesha Temple at Karaltheru. A budget of 64 lakh rupees has been allocated for the restoration of the temple’s adjoining pool. Our objective is to enhance the pool’s appearance while preserving its historical significance. Following the necessary procedures, we anticipate commencing the pool’s restoration by the upcoming month.”
