Fuel Accessibility During Strike: KSRTC-Owned Outlets to Operate 24/7 on Dec 31

In anticipation of the private petrol pump strike scheduled for December 31, several fuel outlets in Kerala owned by the KSRTC will continue to operate 24 hours. The 14 Yathra fuel outlets, strategically located across various areas such as East Fort, Vikas Bhavan, Kilimanoor, Chadayamangalam, Ponkunnam, Cherthala, Mavelikara, Munnar, Muvattupuzha, Paravur, Chalakudy, Thrissur, Guruvayur, and Kozhikode, will provide fuel services during the strike hours. The decision to keep these outlets open aims to mitigate the impact of the strike on the public, ensuring continued access to fuel.

The strike, announced by the All Kerala Federation of Petroleum Traders, comes as a response to the government’s perceived inaction regarding attacks on petrol pump employees by criminal elements. The federation emphasizes the need for protective measures, similar to laws safeguarding health workers during hospital attacks, to ensure the safety of petrol pump employees. Additionally, the federation warns of potential future measures, such as restricting pump operations to night hours (until 10 pm) from March onwards, if a resolution is not reached with the government.
