KSEB is looking to hike power tariff by 92 paise for the next five years

The Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) has moved a proposal to the Regulatory Commission to permits the hike in the electricity tariff in the state for the next five years. According to the reports KSEB has demanded an increase of 92 paise from the beginning of the new fiscal year.

However, the commission will make a decision after hearing the views of various sections of the consumers. KSEB had earlier decided to demand an increase of Rs 2.30 in five years. But then it was reduced to Rs 1.45. With the new tariff, KSEB has been expecting an additional revenue of Rs 4,145 crore in the next five years. Further, the board expects to receive Rs 2249 crore for the first year alone.
