Kerala reports 11,136 new Covid-19 cases on Sunday, TPR at 18.43%
Despite the decline of virus cases Kerala reported 11,136 new Covid-19 cases on Sunday, informed the health department in a press release. The test positivity was recorded as 18.43 per cent.
The district-wise statistics of positive cases: Ernakulam- 1509, Thiruvananthapuram- 1147, Kollam-1061, Kottayam-1047, Kozhikode- 991, Thrissur-844, Pathanamthitta-649, Alappuzha-640, Kannur-599, Idukki-559, Malappuram-557, Palakkad-469, Wayanad-447 and Kasaragod-259. A total of 60,414 samples were tested in the last 24 hours.
3,05,540 people are currently under observation in the state. Out of this, 2,98,745 people are under home/institutional quarantine and 6795 people are in hospitals. 987 people were taken to hospitals on Sunday. Among the 1,60,330 active Covid cases reported, only 4.1 per cent of patients are admitted to hospitals/field hospitals.
Along with 11 new COVID deaths, the health department also reported 58 deaths that are newly certified as Covid-19 deaths based on the revised rules. Apart from this, 77 more deaths recorded late due to the delay in obtaining the documents were also added to the list of COVID deaths. With this, the death toll climbed to 62,199 in the state.
Among the new patients, 56 were returned from outside the state. 10,331 people contracted the virus through contact. The infection source of 668 patients remains unidentified. 81 health workers also tested positive for COVID-19. Meanwhile, 32,004 recoveries were also reported in the state.
The district-wise statistics of recoveries: Thiruvananthapuram-6972, Kollam-1279, Pathanamthitta-627, Alappuzha-1990, Kottayam-3700, Idukki-2126, Ernakulam-4577, Thrissur-2432, Palakkad-1554, Malappuram-1992, Kozhikode-2060, Wayanad-938, Kannur-1442, and Kasaragod-272. 61,84,080 people were recovered from the disease so far.
