Privatization of Kozhikode Airport Scheduled in Two Years, Affirms Union Minister

Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation, VK Singh, assured the Rajya Sabha that Kozhikode International Airport, along with several other airports, will undergo privatization as previously planned. He clarified that there has been no directive regarding the privatization of Kannur Airport at present.

Currently, the Kerala government possesses a 39.23 percent stake in Kannur Airport. Conversely, a combined total of 35.33 percent stake is held by central-state public sector undertakings, individuals, banks, and cooperatives.

Singh stated that Kannur International Airport Limited (KIAL) has not engaged in discussions or made decisions about additional privatization for the airport.

Furthermore, Singh outlined that the privatization process for Kozhikode Airport will occur in conjunction with airports like Bhubaneswar, Varanasi, Amritsar, Tiruchirappalli, Indore, Raipur, Coimbatore, Nagpur, Patna, Mathura, Surat, Ranchi, Jodhpur, Chennai, Vijayawada, Vadodara, Bhopal, Tirupati, Hubli, Imphal, Agartala, Udaipur, Dehradun, and Rajahmundry by the year 2025.
