Controversy Surrounds Modi’s Photo Removal from Vaccination Certificates Amid Covishield Safety Concerns

Amidst growing controversy surrounding the Covishield vaccine and its reported side effects, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s photograph has been removed from Covid vaccination certificates. The decision comes amidst allegations that the move was prompted by concerns over the ongoing Lok Sabha polls and not solely due to the model code of conduct.

Initially, widespread protests erupted against the inclusion of Modi’s image on the vaccination certificate, citing concerns over politicization. Despite these objections, the Centre proceeded with the inclusion until recent developments cast a shadow over the vaccine’s safety.

AstraZeneca, the UK pharmaceutical company responsible for Covishield, recently admitted to potential serious side effects associated with the vaccine. Reports indicate that strokes, heart attacks, and Thrombosis with Thrombocytopenia Syndrome (TTS) are among the identified risks. This admission has led to heightened scrutiny and legal challenges, with a group of individuals approaching the UK High Court seeking compensation for alleged vaccine-related health issues, including fatalities.

The Covishield vaccine, developed in collaboration with the University of Oxford, has been widely used globally under various names. In India, the Serum Institute of India in Pune holds the license for manufacturing and distribution. Over 175 crore doses of Covishield have been administered in the country, making it a crucial component of India’s vaccination drive.

The removal of Modi’s photo from the vaccination certificate underscores the deepening concerns surrounding the Covishield vaccine and the need for transparency and accountability in vaccine distribution and administration. As the controversy continues to unfold, stakeholders are closely monitoring developments and advocating for stringent safety measures to protect public health.
