Kuwait to Deport Nearly 1000 Expats for Violations; National Security a Major Concern

Kuwait is gearing up to deport thousands of expatriates within five days after the New Year, citing various violations of labor and residence laws. The deportations are part of an extensive inspection campaign conducted under the special instructions of Deputy Prime Minister Sheikh Talal Khaled Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah. The move reflects the government’s commitment to enforcing legal labor practices and maintaining national security. Last year witnessed the highest number of expatriate deportations for violating local laws, with 31,42,892 expats deported, including 17,701 women.

Deputy Prime Minister Sheikh Talal Khaled Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah emphasized that the ongoing inspections and subsequent deportations aim to underscore the government’s dedication to upholding legal labor practices. The Ministry of Interior reported that the mass deportations serve the interest of national security, emphasizing the need to address violations of labor and residence laws. In 2021 alone, 42,265 individuals, including 17,701 women, were administratively deported, highlighting Kuwait’s stringent measures against those violating regulations.
