Inauguration of Vocational Training in Schools for Employment Opportunities on 19th

In a significant move towards providing future employment opportunities for schoolchildren, Minister V Sivankutty announced the commencement of vocational training in schools. The initiative, part of the central project Strengthening Teaching Learning Results for States (STARS), will kick off its first phase with 14 centres, offering free courses.

The inauguration is scheduled for the 19th at 5 pm, taking place at Kamleswaram Higher Secondary School. The vocational training program aims to empower students and enhance their employability. Two courses will be offered at each centre, with 25 candidates admitted to each batch. Eligible candidates include those who have completed the 10th standard, students from tribal areas, those studying through open schools, differently-abled individuals, higher secondary/vocational higher secondary students, and those who have completed Plus Two.

The age limit for enrollment is 23 years, with upper age relaxation for SC/ST students (two years) and differently-abled individuals (five years). A total of 236 centres have been allocated under the STARS scheme, with an allocation of 21.5 lakhs for each centre. The initiative has received a sanction of 50.74 crores.

This initiative aligns with the government’s commitment to providing diverse skill development opportunities to students, contributing to their holistic education and future employment prospects.
