FIFA WORLD CUP 2022; Croatia stun Brazil on penalties

After a two-day break, the 2022 FIFA World Cup continued Friday with Croatia stunning Brazil at Education City Stadium in Al Rayyan, Qatar in the tournament’s first quarterfinals match. The match was scoreless through the first 90 minutes as Croatian goalie Dominik Livaković made several stops to keep Brazil off the board.

Brazil finally broke through in the first session of extra time when Neymar scored. However, in the final minutes of extra time, Bruno Petkovic scored to tie the match and send it to penalty kicks. Croatia seemed right at home in penalty kicks. It scored in all four rounds and Livaković denied Rodrygo while Marquinhos penalty kick hit off the post to send Croatia to the semifinals.
