Film Production Company Takes Legal Action Against YouTubers Over ‘Bandra’ Negative Reviews

A legal battle ensues as the production company behind the Dileep-starrer ‘Bandra,’ directed by Arun Gopi, approaches the court seeking action against seven YouTubers. Ajith Viinayaka Films alleges review bombing by YouTubers Aswanth Kok, Shihab, Unni Vlogs, Shaz Mohamed, Arjun, Shijas Talks, and Sai Krishnan, leading to financial losses post the film’s release. The petition demands a case against the YouTubers and instructs the Thiruvananthapuram city commissioner to take action, citing false propaganda and deliberate attempts to mislead the audience.

The controversy highlights the impact of negative reviews on filmmakers, who claim substantial financial losses due to such review bombing. While acknowledging the right to express opinions, police stress the importance of avoiding deliberate personal attacks. Additionally, if reviewers approach filmmakers with intentions to extort money, complaints can be filed.

‘Bandra’ features a pan-Indian star cast, including Sarath Kumar, Tamannaah Bhatia, and Dino Morea, and marks the collaboration between Dileep and Arun Gopi after ‘Ramaleela.’ The legal proceedings bring attention to the challenges faced by the film industry in managing the consequences of online criticism and its potential financial repercussions.
