WhatsApp Testing Longer Status Updates and QR Code Scanner Shortcut for UPI Payments

WhatsApp is experimenting with two new features aimed at enhancing user experience – longer status updates and a QR code scanner shortcut for UPI payments. These updates, spotted by WABetaInfo on recent beta versions of WhatsApp for Android, promise to streamline the process of sharing videos and making peer-to-peer transactions.

The first feature extends the duration of status updates to 60 seconds, doubling the existing limit and allowing users to share longer videos seamlessly. This enhancement requires both the sender and receiver to have the latest beta version installed. Meanwhile, the second feature introduces a QR code scanner shortcut for UPI payments, simplifying the process by eliminating the need to navigate through multiple menus. This shortcut, conveniently located above the main chat list, enables users to initiate transactions with just a few taps. As WhatsApp continues to refine its platform, users can anticipate further improvements such as expanded chat pinning and enhanced security measures in future updates.
