Thiago Alcantara to Leave Liverpool at Season’s End

Liverpool midfielder Thiago Alcantara will depart the club at the end of the season when his contract expires, the Premier League team announced on Friday.

During his four-year tenure at Anfield, Thiago made 98 appearances, scored six goals, and contributed to Liverpool’s victories in the EFL Cup, FA Cup, and Community Shield.

Reflecting on his time with Liverpool, Thiago expressed gratitude in a social media post: “They are two words that come to mind on the day I have to say goodbye to all of you, Reds. Thankful for the opportunity to have been a part of this city, this club, and this community. The continuous support I have received since day one has been incredible: Anfield cheering, The Kop chanting… amazing, overwhelming. A very unique fan base for a unique club. These past four years have been a time of learning for me and my family. Some wins, some defeats, but without a doubt, a life-changing experience. Teammates, coaches, staff, and club employees: you were all part of it.”

Thiago joined Liverpool in September 2020 after winning the Champions League with Bayern Munich. His 2022-23 season was marred by injuries, limiting him to 28 appearances. In his final season with Liverpool, he made just one appearance.
