Kerala to Receive Heavy Rainfall from Saturday

Kerala is anticipated to experience significant rainfall starting Saturday due to the intensification of cyclonic circulation near Rayalaseema in Tamil Nadu and Telangana, along with a low-pressure area extending from south Chhattisgarh to the Comorin region.

This weather pattern may lead to flash floods, landslides, and mountain floods. Central and southern districts are expected to see heavy rain over a short period, which could persist until May 20. People are advised to exercise caution around waterfalls and rivers. On Friday, Ashwin, a 16-year-old from Tirunalveli, Tamil Nadu, tragically drowned in a flash flood in Courtallam.

Heavy rain fell in the hilly regions of Thiruvananthapuram, Kottayam, and Pathanamthitta yesterday, increasing the risk of landslides and sudden river flooding.

Fishing activities have been prohibited along the Kerala coast until further notice. Coastal residents should be vigilant due to the likelihood of rough sea conditions.
