Election Code Postpones CM’s Sub-Collectors Meeting Aimed at Monsoon Preparedness

The Chief Minister’s meeting with sub-collectors, initially planned for Monday, has been postponed to June 6 following intervention by the Chief Electoral Officer due to the election code of conduct. The sub-collectors, serving as Assistant Returning Officers, are largely under the control of the Election Commission during this period. The meeting, called without a specified agenda, was deferred after the Chief Electoral Officer advised officials against participating.

Convened by the Public Administration Department (Coordinating division) and bypassing the Revenue Department, the meeting did not include district collectors responsible for elections. Sub-collectors, who must report to the Land Revenue Secretary, were called without Revenue Department notification. Officials clarified the meeting aimed to coordinate disaster management activities ahead of the monsoon season.
