Step-by-Step Guide to Deleting Your Instagram Account
Access Your Profile
Tap on your profile icon located at the bottom right corner of your homepage. This will take you to your profile page.
Open Settings
From your profile, tap the icon with the three horizontal bars in the top right corner to open the Settings and Activity page.
Go to Accounts Centre
Tap on the first option, “Accounts Centre.”
Personal Details
In the Accounts Centre page, choose the “Personal Details” option under Account Settings.
Account Ownership and Control
Under Personal Details, select the last option, “Account Ownership and Control.”
Deactivation or Deletion
Tap on the “Deactivation or Deletion” option.
Select Account
You’ll see a list of your accounts. Choose the account you wish to delete.
Choose Delete Option
Instagram will give you the option to either Deactivate or Delete your account. Choose “Delete” and then tap on “Continue.”
Reason for Deletion
Instagram will display several options to understand why you want to delete your account. Choose your preferred options and tap on “Continue.”
Re-enter Password
For security reasons, you’ll be asked to re-enter your password. Enter your password and tap on “Continue.”
Confirm Deletion
A message will display the date on which your account will be permanently deleted. Choose the “Delete Account” option to finalize your request. Congratulations, this is the final step!
Important Notes
Permanent Deletion: When you delete your account, all your profile, photos, videos, comments, likes, and followers will be permanently deleted.
Deactivation Option: If you only need a temporary break from Instagram, you can choose to deactivate your account instead.
Deletion Timeline: After 30 days of your account deletion request, your account and all your information will be permanently deleted.
