Top 5 Hybrid Cars in India: 2 Models Boasting 28 kmpl Mileage

In the evolving landscape of Indian automotive preferences, hybrid cars have emerged as a practical and environmentally conscious option amidst the government’s push for greener transportation alternatives. Leading the charge in this domain are Maruti Suzuki and Toyota Kirloskar Motor, with a lineup of hybrid vehicles that have garnered significant attention in recent years. Among the top contenders in the Indian hybrid car market are the Toyota Innova Hycross, Urban Cruiser Hyryder, Grand Vitara, Invicto, and Camry.

According to sales figures from Q1 2024 (January – March), a total of 28,482 hybrid cars were sold nationwide, signaling a growing interest in eco-friendly mobility solutions. Topping the sales chart is the Toyota Innova Hycross, with an impressive 14,442 units sold during this period. Following closely behind is the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, with 9,370 units sold, showcasing the popularity of Toyota’s hybrid offerings in the Indian market.

Despite being a rebadged version of the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, the Urban Cruiser Hyryder managed to outsell its counterpart, securing the third position in hybrid car sales. The Grand Vitara, with 2,232 units sold, claimed the fourth spot, followed by the Maruti Invicto (re-badged Innova Hycross) and the Toyota Camry, with sales figures of 1,210 units and 754 units, respectively.

Of particular note are the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder and Maruti Grand Vitara, which stand out for offering an impressive mileage of 28 kilometers per liter (kmpl), making them attractive options for environmentally conscious consumers seeking fuel-efficient vehicles in India’s burgeoning hybrid car market.
