The alerts are in place for Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Alappuzha, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur, and Kasaragod on June 7th; for Thrissur, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Kannur, and Kasaragod on June 8th; and for Malappuram, Kozhikode, Kannur, and Kasaragod on June 9th.
The forecasted heavy rainfall poses significant risks, including flash floods, landslides, and urban flooding, especially in low-lying areas. The intense downpours over a short period could lead to soil erosion and disrupt daily life. The IMD has urged residents and local authorities to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions to mitigate the potential impact of the severe weather.
