Biden Asserts Putin’s Ambitions Extend Beyond Ukraine
US President Joe Biden, during his state visit to France, emphasized America’s commitment to supporting Ukraine against Russia’s invasion, warning that Vladimir Putin’s ambitions extend beyond Ukraine. Speaking alongside French President Emmanuel Macron, Biden declared that Putin would not stop at Ukraine, posing a threat to all of Europe. He affirmed that the United States stands firmly with Ukraine and will not abandon it.
Macron expressed gratitude to Biden for his leadership and partnership, underscoring the strong transatlantic alliance. Both leaders had previously met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Paris, reaffirming their support for Ukraine.
Biden, in France for the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings, highlighted the parallels between World War II and the current conflict in Ukraine, stressing the importance of preserving democracy. Facing a presidential election against Donald Trump, Biden noted the critical role of alliances like NATO in demonstrating global unity and strength.
