E-Pass Requirement for Ooty and Kodaikanal Visits Extended to June 30; No Limit on Tourist Numbers

Tourists planning to visit Ooty and Kodaikanal must obtain e-passes until June 30, as mandated by the authorities. This requirement applies to all tourists, including those arriving by private vehicles. The district administration has emphasized that the e-pass system is essential for collecting necessary information about visitors to these popular hill stations.

E-passes are issued to all applicants without restrictions. While there are no limits on the number of tourists allowed to visit Kodaikanal and Ooty, those traveling in private vehicles must have an e-pass. Local residents and bus travelers are exempt from this requirement. Checkpoints have been established to issue e-passes, which involve submitting the necessary documents.

This e-pass mandate follows a directive from the Madras High Court aimed at regulating traffic during the busy summer season in these tourist hotspots. The government has implemented an online application system for TN e-passes on its official website, where visitors must pre-register their visit dates and provide vehicle information.
