The move, which took effect this month, aims to improve diplomatic relations between the two countries while making it simpler for Indian tourists to visit Israel. By digitizing the entire visa procedure, Israel is offering a completely online experience, allowing applicants to submit their visa applications directly through the official government portal.
This new e-visa system reduces the paperwork traditionally required for obtaining a visa, making the process safer, faster, and more convenient for Indian travelers. With a secure travel authorization technology integrated into the e-visa platform, visa processing has become more efficient and reliable. As of now, India is the only country with access to this e-visa facility, with plans to extend it to other nations in the future.
Tourism from India plays a vital role in Israel’s economy, contributing significantly to its tourism revenue. After the pandemic’s impact on the tourism sector, the number of Indian visitors has steadily increased, with figures rising from 30,900 in 2022 to 41,800 in 2023. With the new e-visa system, Israeli authorities expect the number of Indian tourists to grow even further. The e-visa costs approximately Rs 2,367, with processing taking around 10 days. To apply, travelers simply need to visit Israel’s official portal, fill in the necessary details, and submit required documents in advance.
