A body of a Keralite youth was found on the campus of IIT Chennai.

Chennai: On Thursday, a partially burned body of a Keralite man was found on the campus of IIT Madras.

Unnikrishnan Nair, from Ernakulam in Kerala, has been identified as the man.

An 11-page suicide note was discovered at Unnikrishnan’s home in the city of Velacherry. He cited mental stress as the reason for going to such lengths.

“No one is to blame for my death,” wrote Unnikrishnan in the note.

Unnikrishnan worked at IIT as a guest lecturer and project coordinator.

Unnikrishnan was hired by the IIT in April, shortly after completing his M Tech programme. He had only returned to campus on Thursday morning after a trip to his hometown in Kerala.

Students discovered the body around 8 p.m. in a bush near the hockey stadium on the sprawling campus. Only the face and a few parts of the body were discovered to be burned.

The Kotturpuram Police Department has opened an investigation into a suspicious death.

The body was shifted to the Government Hospital at Royapettah on Thursday night.

The autopsy is set to be held today, (Friday).

The deceased’s family has arrived in Chennai. The family originally hails from Ettumanoor in Kottayam district.
