Kerala Observes Public Holiday Today in Celebration of Prophet’s Day

Today marks the observance of Prophet’s Day, a special occasion commemorating the birth of Prophet Muhammad. This significant day falls on the twelfth of the month of Rabbiul Awwal in the Hijra calendar. Believers embrace this day with grand celebrations, focusing their festivities around mosques and madrasas in the state of Kerala.

The festivities surrounding Prophet’s Day serve as a tribute to the life and legacy of the Prophet. Those who hold deep reverence for the history and teachings of Prophet Muhammad find spiritual fulfillment through hymns and expressions of devotion.

Prophet’s Day holds a special place in the hearts of believers, as it inspires a commitment to embody the messages of love and brotherhood delivered by Prophet Muhammad, who served as a divine messenger.

In recognition of this important occasion, Kerala observes today as a public holiday. It’s worth noting that the date for the public holiday was initially scheduled for the 27th but was later moved to the 28th in response to requests from Muslim organizations. This adjustment was made due to the determination of Prophet’s Day being on September 28, following the sighting of the new moon.
