Kochi Port’s Leading Export Destination is UAE

During the first half of 2023, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) emerged as the top recipient of goods from Kochi Port. Notably, 1.3 lakh tonnes of exports were directed to the UAE within the six-month period, constituting 17.97 percent of the total exports from the port during this duration. Following UAE, the United States and China held the second and third positions in the export destinations. Collectively, shipments to these three nations accounted for 40 percent of the overall exports from Kochi Port between January and June this year.

In total, the port witnessed exports amounting to 7.17 lakh tonnes during this timeframe, slightly down from the 7.25 lakh tonnes recorded in the previous year. The primary exported commodities included coir products, succeeded by food products and various other marine goods.

Concurrently, the port registered imports totaling 11.35 tonnes over the same period. Predominantly, imports arrived at Kochi Port from UAE, China, and African countries.
