Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya says 96 countries accept India’s Covid vaccination certificates

New Delhi:  According to Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, 96 countries around the world have agreed to mutual recognition of COVID-19 vaccination certificates issued by India.

Travelers to and from these countries will be granted certain exemptions, according to the Health Minister on Tuesday. “96 countries have agreed to mutually accept its vaccination certificates, reflecting worldwide recognition of India’s vaccines and vaccination process,” Mansukh Mandaviya said.

“A total of 96 countries have also agreed to recognise Indian vaccination certificates of fully vaccinated travellers with Covishield and other WHO approved and nationally approved vaccines,” he added.

The Union government, according to the Health Minister, is continuing to communicate with the rest of the world in order for beneficiaries of the world’s largest Covid vaccination programme to be accepted and recognised, easing their travel for education, business, and tourism purposes.

According to the UK government’s new travel guidelines, Bharat Biotech’s Covaxin will be added to its approved list of Covid vaccines for international travellers beginning November 22.

“From 4 a.m. on November 22, the UK government will recognise vaccines on the World Health Organization’s Emergency Use Listing,” according to the new travel guidelines issued by the UK government.

The news comes after the World Health Organization approved Covaxin for emergency use last week. Mandaviya also stated that two of the eight World Health Organization-approved vaccines against Covid-19 in the Emergency Use Listing (EUL) are from India: Covaxin and Covishield.

The total number of vaccine doses administered in the country has surpassed 109.08 crore. On October 21, India passed the 100-crore vaccination mark.
