Heavy Rainfall Alert: Kerala Braces for Prolonged Wet Spell

Continuing from the previous information, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a weather warning for Kerala, indicating that the state is likely to experience heavy rainfall over the next few days. This prediction comes as a result of a cyclonic circulation forming over south Tamil Nadu and adjoining areas, which is expected to move west-northwestwards toward southeast and adjoining east-central Arabian Sea in the coming days.

The prevailing weather conditions, including strong lower-level easterly winds from the Bay of Bengal, are contributing to the widespread light to moderate rainfall expected over south peninsular India during the next week. Additionally, isolated heavy rainfall is anticipated in Kerala between November 5 and 8, with specific areas such as Pathanamthitta, Idukki, and Malappuram districts on orange alert for November 5. An orange alert signifies the possibility of very heavy rainfall ranging between 6 cm and 20 cm.

This prolonged wet spell has raised concerns among authorities and residents in the state, especially in areas prone to flooding and landslides. People have been advised to stay alert and take necessary precautions to minimize the impact of heavy rainfall. Local authorities are also gearing up with emergency response measures to handle any potential situations arising from the intense weather conditions.

As the situation develops, regular updates from the IMD and local authorities are crucial for residents to stay informed about the changing weather patterns and to ensure their safety during this period of heavy rainfall.
