BJP Names Anil Antony as National Spokesperson

Anil Antony has been appointed as the national spokesperson of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Anil, who was recently designated as the party’s national secretary, has taken on this added role as spokesperson. The decision was made as per the directive of national president J P Nadda, with the order issued by national general secretary Arun Singh.

Anil Antony, the son of Congress veteran A K Antony, had joined the BJP in April. Prior to this move, he held positions as the digital media convener of the Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) and the social media coordinator of the All-India Congress Committee (AICC).

Anil’s departure from the Congress was spurred by a contentious episode. He faced criticism and disparaging remarks from party supporters following his statements about a controversial BBC documentary that touched on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s involvement in the Gujarat riots. As a result, he resigned from the Congress and found a new home in the BJP.
