Opposition Leader Criticizes Government’s Development Challenge as a ‘Big Joke

VD Satheesan, the leader of the opposition in the Kerala Assembly, criticized the state government’s challenge to the opposition regarding discussions on development in Puthuppally, deeming it a “major mockery.” He pointed out that the government isn’t allocating funds for essential projects like sewage construction. Satheesan advised campaigning ministers visiting Puthuppally for the bypoll to maintain a distance from the public.

Satheesan alleged that the government granted a mobilization advance to the K-FON consortium, including SRIT, without interest, which violated purchasing guidelines and led to a loss of Rs 36 crore for the state. He also questioned whether those who assessed Mathew Kuzhalnadan’s residence would take similar actions against the CPM office in Santhanpara, constructed in breach of norms.

Addressing the controversy surrounding Veena Vijayan’s financial transactions, Satheesan announced that the UDF would pursue legal measures. He claimed that the CPM had formed an alliance with the BJP to resolve the case involving the state president of the BJP, K Surendran, and accused Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan of safeguarding Surendran like a younger sibling.
