Record Liquor Sales of 116 Crores Reported by Bevco; Irinjalakuda Sets Sales Record

Malayalees indulged in alcoholic beverages amounting to a value of Rs 116 crores on Uthradam day, with these purchases taking place through Bevco. However, the Managing Director of Bevco has cautioned that these figures are preliminary and the actual revenue from sales could still change.

During this period, Irinjalakuda stood out with the highest sales record. On Uthradam day, liquor sales reached Rs 1.06 crore in Irinjalakuda, while the Kollam Ashram outlet saw sales amounting to Rs 1.01 crore.

In anticipation of these exceptional sales figures across the state, precautionary measures were implemented. Bevco provided explicit directives to the managers of warehouse outlets to ensure a seamless purchasing experience for customers, without causing any inconvenience. The focus was on stocking an adequate supply of various liquors, including popular brands, which were to be displayed visibly to customers. Additionally, special emphasis was placed on promoting digital transactions. Employees were also encouraged to minimize leave during the Onam season.
