Heavy Rain: IMD issues Yellow Alert in parts of Odisha

Maharashtra’s Pune district received incessant rainfall for over three hours on Sunday. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) rain gauge in the Shivaji Nagar area witnessed 16 mm of rainfall within the span of an hour.
Pune’s Bibwewadi area recorded 83 mm of rain in a couple of hours, which was recorded on a private rain gauge.

The city’s lower areas and JM road locations have severe waterlogging. Other parts of Maharashtra were battered by heavy rains and thunderstorms in isolated areas. On Sunday, the IMD issued a Yellow Alert across the state and alerted a depression over the south Odisha area and adjoining southeast of Bhawanipatna.

Many parts of Odisha have been witnessing heavy downpours since August 10. Subsequently, a Yellow Alert of heavy rainfall for Khurda, Cuttack, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Angul, Dhenkanal, Ganjam, Nayagarh, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Rayagada, Korat, Gajapati, Deogarh and Puri.
