Prime Minister Modi Slams Opposition for Caste Politics Amidst Caste Census Release

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has strongly criticized the opposition in the wake of the release of the caste census data in Bihar. Accusing the opposition of indulging in caste-based politics, Modi asserted that these are the very people who historically divided society along caste lines, even during their own tenures in power. The Prime Minister made these remarks while inaugurating several development projects in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh.

The Bihar government recently unveiled the findings of the caste census in the state. According to the latest data, 27.13% of the population falls under the backward category, while 36.01% are classified as extremely backward. In contrast, only 15.52% belong to the unreserved category. The release of this census comes amidst demands from the opposition coalition, India, for a comprehensive caste-based enumeration.

The Prime Minister’s critique underscores the tension surrounding the issue, highlighting the divisive nature of caste politics within the country. As the debate on caste-based representation continues, these developments shed light on the complexities of social and political dynamics in India.
