Former Andhra Pradesh CM and TDP Leader N Chandrababu Naidu Arrested in Alleged Corruption Case

In connection with alleged corruption charges, the Andhra Pradesh Criminal Investigation Department (CID) officially arrested N Chandrababu Naidu, former Chief Minister and senior leader of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP). High drama unfolded in Nandyal as a team of police officers arrived in the early hours of Saturday to take Naidu into custody.

The legal counsel representing the TDP chief stated, “CID has detained Chandrababu for a medical examination after detecting high blood pressure and diabetes. We are planning to approach the High Court for his bail.”

However, their plans were disrupted when a group of workers engaged in a heated argument with the police, questioning the late-night arrest while Naidu sat aboard a bus as part of his visit to Nandyal. A minor altercation also occurred between TDP workers and law enforcement personnel.

TDP leaders criticized the police for their late-night actions against the senior party member. It has been reported that some party workers were detained by the police.

According to officials, a significant police presence has been deployed in the area, under the supervision of DIG Raghurama Reddy. Nonetheless, the police have refrained from responding to inquiries from party leaders, asserting that the remand report contains all necessary information. One CID official mentioned during the altercation, “We have evidence. We submitted it to the High Court. The remand report includes all the details. We will present the remand report before transferring him to Vijayawada.”
