Sanju Samson and Yuzvendra Chahal Included in India’s T20 World Cup Squad

India’s provisional squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup in the Americas has been announced, with notable inclusions of wicketkeeper-batter Sanju Samson and spinner Yuzvendra Chahal. The squad was unveiled after a meeting between BCCI secretary Jay Shah and chief selector Ajit Agarkar in Ahmedabad, with Rohit Sharma leading the team. Despite recent struggles, all-rounder Hardik Pandya retains his position as vice-captain. Samson’s consistent performances in the IPL for Rajasthan Royals earned him a spot as the second wicketkeeper-batter behind Rishabh Pant. Meanwhile, Chahal returns to the national squad after his last appearance in August 2023.

The squad also features hard-hitting batter Shivam Dube, who impressed with his performances in the IPL. However, star batter Shubman Gill and big-hitter Rinku Singh find themselves among the reserves. Yashasvi Jaiswal, despite a slow start in the IPL, has been backed by the selectors for his potential. The T20 World Cup is set to commence on June 2 in the USA and the Caribbean, with India scheduled to play their first match against Ireland on June 5 in New York.

The Indian Squad for the T20 World Cup comprises Rohit Sharma (Captain), Hardik Pandya (Vice Captain), Yashasvi Jaiswal, Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Rishabh Pant (WK), Sanju Samson (WK), Shivam Dube, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal, Arshdeep Singh, Jasprit Bumrah, and Mohd. Siraj. The reserves include Shubman Gill, Rinku Singh, Khaleel Ahmed, and Avesh Khan.
