“Nava Kerala Sadas”: State Cabinet Launches Public Outreach with Daily Meetings and Grievance Redressal

The state cabinet of Kerala is embarking on a comprehensive constituency tour titled “Nava Kerala Sadas,” starting with a morning debate and four public meetings daily. This initiative aims to connect with the public, providing a platform for discussions and addressing concerns. Each day will cover a maximum of four constituencies, with artistic performances preceding the public meetings. This extensive program entails the absence of all ministers from the secretariat for over a month.

The agenda includes not only public meetings but also the participation of influential individuals. Approximately 250 people, representing various segments such as freedom fighters, women, students, college union office bearers, and religious leaders, will join the debates.

To facilitate public interaction, a separate pandal will be set up three hours before each meeting to receive complaints. Special counters for differently-abled individuals, senior citizens, and women will be available. An efficient online system has been established to track the progress of complaints, ensuring transparency and accountability.

Notably, the program faced a moment of contention when the proposal to display pictures of all cabinet ministers on the luxury bus for transportation was raised. The opposition argued that this violates the Motor Vehicles Act, which prohibits such displays on vehicles.

The initiative reflects the government’s commitment to engage with the public, listen to their grievances, and implement effective solutions, fostering a collaborative approach to governance.
