UDF Hartal in Idukki Today Over Land Regulations

The District Congress Committee has declared a strike (hartal) in Idukki today, advocating for amendments to the Land Regulations of 1963 and 1994. The proposed modifications entail lifting the construction prohibition in 13 local areas, recommencing the issuance of land title deeds, and rectifying discrepancies in the digital resurvey process.

The strike is scheduled to take place from 6 am to 6 pm, according to DCC president CP Mathew. Essential services, such as milk delivery, newspapers, hospitals, exams, and significant occasions like weddings and funerals, have been excluded from the strike.

Simultaneously, a procession and assembly were orchestrated in Thodupuzha city by the block Congress committee as a preliminary event. The gathering was inaugurated by CP Mathew and chaired by the block Congress president.
