Donald Trump Reiterates Call for Strong Borders, Alleges Millions Entering US Illegally

Former US President Donald Trump reiterated his stance on the need for strong borders and alleged that millions of people are entering the United States illegally. Speaking to reporters in Londonderry City, New Hampshire, Trump emphasized the importance of secure borders and called for “honest, free and fair” elections.

Trump stated, “We have to make sure we have honest, fair and free elections and strong borders. If we don’t have borders and elections, we don’t have a country. And you see what’s going on with the border. There has never been anything like this on the border.” He claimed that “millions and millions of people are pouring into our country illegally,” including individuals from prisons and potential terrorists.

When asked about the condition of the northern borders, Trump criticized the Biden administration, stating that they have done one of the “worst” jobs in history and referred to the situation as one of the “worst tragedies” in the country’s history. He expressed concern about both the southern and northern borders, emphasizing the need to address immigration challenges.

Trump is currently competing in the New Hampshire primary for the GOP nomination, aiming to challenge President Joe Biden in the November 2024 election. A CNN poll indicated that Trump holds 50 percent support among likely Republican primary voters in New Hampshire, with Nikki Haley as his closest competitor at 39 percent.

The former president, who launched his bid in November 2022, seeks a non-consecutive term, consistently denying the outcome of the 2020 election and facing multiple criminal charges. Meanwhile, Nikki Haley, former governor of South Carolina, entered the presidential race in February 2023, advocating for Republican leadership focused on economic responsibility, national security, and border strengthening. If successful in the primary, Haley could become the first woman and the first Asian American nominated by the GOP for president.

The New Hampshire primary is a key event shaping the trajectory of the GOP nomination process, with Trump and Haley as leading contenders.
