Google Commemorates India’s 77th Independence Day with Textile Legacy Tribute
On the 77th Independence Day of India, Google paid tribute to the country’s rich textile heritage through a unique doodle. Created by artist Namrata Kumar from Delhi, the doodle showcased textiles from 21 different states, including Kerala’s iconic Kasavu, Gujarat’s Kutch embroidery, Odisha’s Ikat, and Jammu and Kashmir’s pashmina kani. Namrata Kumar explained that the doodle was crafted as a gesture of respect for handloom weavers, skilled stitchers, embroidery artisans, and textile painters across India.
