Kerala’s Onam Alcohol Revenue Surpasses Chandrayaan Mission Costs

During the Onam celebrations, the Kerala government managed to collect 759 crores in revenue from alcohol sales, a move aimed at addressing the state’s financial challenges. To put this in perspective, the cost of the Chandrayan 3 mission, which brought immense pride to the nation, was 600 crores. Additionally, liquor sales in Kerala exceeded 159 crores.

Compared to the previous year, there has been an increase in sales of over eight percent. According to the Kerala State Beverage Corporation, Bevco achieved its highest sales on Uthradam, totaling 116 crores. Notably, the popular rum brand ‘Jawan’ recorded exceptional sales, with 70,000 cases sold in Kerala within just ten days. The Tirur outlet in Malappuram witnessed the highest sales among all locations.
