Rahul Gandhi to Contest Wayanad Again in Upcoming Lok Sabha Elections

The national leadership of the Indian National Congress has officially confirmed that Rahul Gandhi, former party president, will seek re-election from the Wayanad constituency in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. The All India Congress Committee (AICC) General Secretary, Tariq Anwar, who is overseeing party affairs in Kerala, dismissed rumors suggesting that Rahul might consider contesting from a North Indian constituency. Rahul Gandhi recently expressed a deep emotional connection with Wayanad, stating that visiting the region feels like coming home.

AICC General Secretary KC Venugopal, on the other hand, has been confirmed to not be contesting from Alappuzha in the upcoming elections. Tariq Anwar emphasized that the party leadership is focused on Venugopal’s role in strengthening the party and ruled out his candidacy from Alappuzha. Venugopal had refrained from contesting in the 2019 elections for similar reasons. When asked about the potential candidacy of K Sudhakaran, the sitting Member of Parliament from Kannur and President of the Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC), Anwar mentioned that the decision lies with Sudhakaran himself.
