Governor requests that bride’s photo be removed from jewellery advertisements

Kochi: Kerala Governor Arif Mohammad Khan has asked jewellers not to use photos of brides in their advertisements. He believes they have an impact on people.

He was speaking at the Kerala University of Fisheries and Ocean Studies (KUFOS) graduation ceremony in Kochi.

Students who attended the graduation ceremony signed an affidavit declaring that they would not receive dowry and handed it over to the governor.

The governor has been working hard to put an end to the practise of dowry. He had fasted for a day at Raj Bhavan to raise awareness about dowry and violence against women.
