Kerala Chief Minister’s Official Vehicle Faces Traffic Violation Fine

The official vehicle of Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has been slapped with a fine of Rs 500 by the Motor Vehicle Department. The penalty was imposed due to a traffic violation captured on camera, where an occupant in the front seat was observed without a seat belt on December 12, 2023. It is noteworthy that the Chief Minister was not present in the vehicle at the time of the incident; he was reportedly traveling in a specially deployed bus for the Nava Kerala Sadas event.

Despite the absence of the CM, the fine has not yet been settled, raising questions about the resolution of the penalty and the process involved. The incident underscores the significance of adhering to traffic regulations, even in the case of government vehicles. This occurrence has sparked discussions regarding the enforcement of traffic rules, irrespective of the individual’s stature, emphasizing the need for accountability and compliance in the interest of public safety.
