Namo Bharat Semi-High-Speed Train Successfully Completes Trial Run

India’s semi-high-speed train, Namo Bharat, has successfully completed a 12 km trial run from Duhai to Modi Nagar in Uttar Pradesh. The trial run tested the train’s performance on the route, and it covered four stations – Murad Nagar, Modi Nagar North, Modi Nagar South, and Meerut South. Namo Bharat, part of the Regional Rapid Train Service (RRTS), aims to connect important regions in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, and Rajasthan, reducing travel time and boosting transportation efficiency. One notable aspect of the Namo Bharat service is that it exclusively employs women, emphasizing women’s empowerment in the country. With high-quality features such as comfortable seating, Wi-Fi facilities, and charging points for every seat, the project is set to enhance connectivity and contribute to India’s infrastructure development, potentially reducing travel time between Delhi and Meerut to just one hour.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the first phase of the Namo Bharat train service in October, covering the route from Shaheedabad to Duhai. The completion of the entire 82-km-long Delhi-Meerut track is expected within one and a half years. With a project outlay of Rs 30,000 crore, the Namo Bharat project represents a significant investment in the transportation sector, aiming to provide efficient and comfortable connectivity for passengers. Additionally, the development of this transportation infrastructure is poised to contribute to the growth of the tourism sector by making travel more accessible and time-efficient.
